How to choose

Calculate the pounds required to establish the display and the pounds needed to refresh it throughout the day. Account for melt, transfer losses and overnight practices. Confirm the bin or dispenser is approved for flake ice, review auger and evaporator maintenance requirements, and evaluate how staff will move ice without contaminating it.

Flake ice is best for seafood counters, grocery displays, produce merchandising and certain healthcare or food-processing applications. It is generally a poor substitute for conventional beverage cubes where slow melt and predictable displacement matter.
